If you’re going to have a Star Trek: The Next Generation comic, there’s a very short list of people who would be more authoritative to write it than Brannon Braga. Truthfully, the only other name that pops into my mind is Ronald D. Moore. IDW has tapped Braga to write Star Trek: The Next Generation: Hive, which is being promoted as “the final chapter in The Borg saga.”
Braga, if you’re not familiar with the behind the camera world of Star Trek has been involved with a LOT of it. He was co-producer on TNG, Executive Producer on Voyager and Enterprise. He also wrote for those shows, plus worked on the Generations and First Contact movie scripts with the aforementioned Ronald D. Moore. So yeah, he’s as much a Trek insider as anyone. Your hardcore fans will probably wish Moore was on this, but Braga’s presence is a pretty big deal.
Braga’s teaming up with Terry Matalas for the script duties. Matalas is another Trek alumni. He was a Production Associate on Enterprise and also has a story credit on a couple episodes, so it’s not like Braga and Matalas are strangers to working together. Joe Corroney. Corroney’s done a LOT of covers for IDW’s licensed books. He also did interiors for Spike Vs. Dracula.
Make it so with IDW and Star Trek: The Next Generation!

Celebrated writer Brannon Braga makes his triumphant return!
San Diego, CA (June 15, 2012) – There’s no easy way to say it… the Borg are back. The cubes, the Queen, Locutus, and their intractable stance on resistance have reared their ugly heads once again to jeopardize the fate of our Galaxy. With all evil, though, must come good, and who better to thwart the Borg’s steely agenda than Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise?
For the show’s twenty-fifth anniversary, Hugo Award-winner Brannon Braga, one of The Next Generation’s key writers, is joining forces with fellow Trek scribe Terry Matalas and artist Joe Corroney to bring Captain Picard and the Enterprise’s crew back for a dynamic new journey.
“It’s a thrill and privilege to be writing in theStar Trek universe again,” said Braga. “This graphic medium will provide the narrative ambition and visual scope this story deserves — the final chapter in The Borg saga!”
In a distant future, where the deadly Borg have assimilated the entire Galaxy, Picard, his crew, and some unexpected allies must prove once and for all that resistance is notfutile! Packed with mind-bending twists, time-jumping action, and revered, genre-defining characters, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION: HIVE promises to be a must-read event for fans of the TNG’s intrepid legacy.
This September, tell your local comic shop to make it so!
