CHANCE IN HELL by Gilbert Hernandez is one of his “pulp novels” adapting films that characters from his other works star in. If that’s too complicated for ya, just know this is the story of Empress, a once innocent girl who must survive in a harsh, desperate urban landscape that mirrors our own. Finally, this last item isn’t a graphic novel but it’s a nice book that I wanted to find a good home for: ia trade paperback reprinting of Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre, illustrated by Victorian expert Dame Darcy. Talk about a perfect match. Oh, Mr Rochester!
