200710101218Two sort-of comics-related projects have garnered National Book Award nominations. Sherman Alexie’s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian which was illustrated by cartooner Ellen Forney was nominated in the Young Peopl’s LIterature category, as was Brian Selznick’s multi media The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Alexie and Forney appear to be liteerary pals, as he wrote the intro for her I Love Led Zeppelin.
