Okay it’s been a while, but FREE COMICS ARE BACK. And we’re back with My Body and My Daughter: An In-Depth Analysis by Glynnis Fawkes in The New Yorker. Fawkes is a new name to the New Yorker family – maybe the influence of new cartoons editor Emma Allen?

Fawkes is an award winning cartoonist who hasn’t really gotten that big PR breakout yet, Excellent pieces like this should change that. I think any woman who has a mother or is a mother will relate to the intense body scrutiny that little girls have for their moms — at least I do!

You can learn more about Fawkes’s other work on her website, including  Alle Ego, which won a Society of Illustrators/MoCCA festival Award of Excellence in 2016, a travelog about Greece and Crete. There’s also Woodhole, a short comic about Cape Cod. Fawkes has a lovely line and an insightful approach to non fiction comics, so check it out.
