Winter is coming…

and it’s bringing souvenirs.

With this month’s return of HBO’s Game of Thrones, it’s time to plan all the viewing parties or whatever your celebration ritual might be. Revels! Comics Beat was invited to get hands on with the sheer tidal wave of merchandise, both current and upcoming, for one of cable’s most rabid fan bases.  From board games to sigil banners we’ve taken it all in and here’s six things no Game of Thrones fan should be without:

SEVEN KINGDOMS HOPPY WHEAT ALE

DSC_0247Themed beers or wines aren’t anything new in the world of pop culture. I’m sure I have a bottle of Hellboy beer I took home from ECCC’15 somewhere around here. Certainly Game of Thrones has seen its fair share of libations. When done for the right properties, with the right touches, it goes beyond keepsake into the collectors market. You’ll want to jump on this one quickly as previous editions of these beers have sold out almost instantly. While past brews have focused on specific families this new one widens the lens to celebrate all of the seven kingdoms. Personally, I don’t drink alcohol save for once every 4 years or so. However, this Belgium style wheat ale crafted by Brewery Ommegang definitley makes the list for any GOT party planners especially when combined with GOT beer stiens or your own goblets. Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale is available right now in 850ml bottles($9.99) on ommegang.com

LIVING LANGUAGE DOTHRAKI

Audio Book ($19.99) / Companion App ($3.99) / Expanded Online Course ($30)

Living Language DothrakiWant to be just like the Trekkers speaking Klingon? Game of Thrones has dialects all its own. Language consultant David J. Peterson will teach you Dothraki in this audio book compiling more than 500 words and phrases with never before heard material. In addition to your starter course, fans can download a companion app for mobile or take the expanded online lessons. We can’t vouch for how good Dothraki will look on your resume under special skills but you’re sure to get closer to reclaiming the Iron Throne. Living Language Dothraki is available at all brick-and-mortar bookstores as well as online.

GAME OF THRONES SOCKS

DSC_0204Get ready to strip down to your business socks. Gallant & Beau have teamed with HBO to create a line of socks based on the world created by George R.R. Martin. Theses socks will come in multiple tiers each available through different retailers when they release this Spring and range in price from $9-25. Go on instagram and you’ll find an entire legion of people with sock obsession; the healthy kind. Pop culture has certainly made an impression with socks featuring popular comic book characters. So why not socks signifying you as the mother of dragons? The higher end nylon socks will cost you a little more but for the fashion knowledgeable nerds out there like Heroic Hollywood founder Umberto Gonzales it’ll definiteley be worth it. Much respect to the dress game.
