Things are looking grim at Borders, the beleaguered book chain. Although they claim to have found more financing, they are asking publishers for delayed payments. PW has a roundup of the latest developments, including the departure of a number of executives, including EVP General Counsel Thomas Carney and SVP Chief Information officer D. Scott Laverty who both resigned. It's also reported that SVP Business Development Larry Norton, VP Real Estate Tony Grant, and SVP Marketing Bill Dandy have left.

Continue ReadingVia PR, it's been announced that Axel Alonso has just been promoted to Editor-in-Chief at Marvel, replacing Joe Quesada, who will focus on his role as Chief Creative Officer. Alonso had been VP, executive editor, along with Tom Brevoort, for some time, but the move, although sudden, is no surprise to anyone who has watched Alonso's career. Since starting at Vertigo, where he crafted some of the most emblematic comics of the era, to his stint at Marvel Knights, through his most recent Marvel duties running the X-Men, Alonso has shown the continued ability to guide creators and shape material that the position requires.
