Continue ReadingWhile everyone we know is in a tizzy getting ready for New York Comic Con -- and the certain to be epic drinking fest surrounding NYCC -- the Wizard Big Apple Comic-Con was held this weekend, and nobody really noticed. You may recall that there was outrage and anxiety last year when Wizard announced it would hold the show the very same weekend as New York Comic Con. However, in the spring it was announced the Wizard show would move to the week ahead of NYCC, and also change venues from the huge Pier 94 facility to the much smaller Penn Plaza Pavilion, traditional site of the Big Apple Con.

It's not a scientific survey, but Kelly Thompson at She Has No Head has started something called the Ladies Comics Project where she asks her female friends -- some comics readers some not -- to pick and read a comic previously unknown to them and give their thoughts.

Del Rey Manga is shutting down, but Kodansha Comics will remain, to be distributed by Random House. Del Rey Manga's associate publisher, Dallas Middaugh, will move over to Random House Publisher Services to act as the liaison for Kodansha.

We get a little sentimental about this kind of ending -- one that hints at the unfolding of a whole new story, but one that will only ever be written in our own imaginations.
