We ran into artist Peter Kuper at the BLAB! show at Society of Illustrators the other night and he was carrying a copy of his new book, Alicia en el País de las Maravillas. It’s a Mexican edition of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, published by Sexto Piso (who also published his lovely Diario de Oaxaca.) Kuper did 50 illustrations for the book, and is looking for a publisher for a US edition.
Next up, he’s working on an illustrated version of Kipling’s JUNGLE BOOK, and a collection of his illustration, comics, sketchbooks and writing about New York called Diario de Nueva York, also to be published in Spanish. He also notes that the political comics anthology World War 3 Illustrated is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and will have a spotlight panel at MoCCA and a big retrospective show at Exit Art in the winter. A book collection is also in the works.
Kuper kindly provided us with this exclusive peek at his marvelous ALICE illustrations.

Poor Bill!
