2010 Joe Shuster Award nominees announced

Nominees for the 2010 Joe Shuster Awards recognizing the best comics work by Canadian creators (including permanent residents of Canada), were announced today. Nominees were selected from a list of eligible work published in 2009 and winners will be selected by a jury. The awards will be presented at a public ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Saturday, June 5th, 2010 at the University of Toronto’s Innis Town Hall, 2 Sussex Avenue. The Master of Ceremonies will be Jonathan Llyr. The presentation ceremony date also coincides with the 6th Annual Toronto ComiCON Fan Appreciation Event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on June 5 & 6, 2010.

    Rooting for Delaf and Dubuc here. Les Nombrils (“The Bellybuttons”) is a brilliantly funny comic that should be better known in english.

    What does (including permanent residents of Canada) mean?

    Wouldn’t “Canadian Creators” include people who lived in Canada all the time, by default?

    The definition of a Canadian Permanent Resident is that they are someone who is not become a Canadian citizen but has the right to enter or remain in Canada. A permanent resident must live in Canada for two years of every five years or risk losing his or her permanent resident status.
