More on Montana v Geppi

3 Comments POSTED ON Feb 23 2010 AT 8:02 am BY The Beat

Last week, we reported on some legal troubles for Diamond Distribution owner Steve Geppi, including what appeared to be a $500 million lawsuit filed by the heirs of Archie artist Bob Montana. After looking at the court documents, the actual amount of the suit is only $500,000. (We’ve corrected the original story.) The case involves the 2007 sale of some 2000 pieces of Montana artwork to Geppi and his Diamond International Galleries for $1 million, to be split into four payments. Geppi missed the June, 2009 payment, and the heirs are now suing for the remaining half million.

A response to the complaint was filed this week, but court documents are not yet available.
