§ Tim O’Shea interviews with James Kochalka on the matter of Superf*ckers:
James Kochalka: Not every character swears. The ones that should swear, do. It fits their personality, a kind of “I can do whatever I want because I’m awesome”, and that includes insane wanton swearing. The swearing is also pretty creative at times, it’s often not just straight up swearing. And it makes the action more dramatic. For instance, instead of yelling “I’m going to punch you” or even “I’m going to fuckin’ punch you”, at one point Jack Krak yells something like “I’m going to fuck your face with my fist”. That’s just way snappier sounding, isn’t it?
To me it isn’t even really an issue of funnier or not. It’s just an issue of the characters being as awesome and overblown as they can be.
Speaking of Kochalka, he has a kickstarter account up to fund to development of his video game Glorkian Warrior.

§ We are informed that the 9th issue of Matt Thurber’s Le Sketch is now available.
In this issue, cartoonist and illustrator Matthew Thurber presents an array of 14 sketches featuring electric demigods, esoteric scribbles, smiling cats and dogs and allegorical creatures that would happily eat you up in a blink. All printed in red carnelian and a spanky purple!

We arrived on Jeopardy a few years ago; “Fallout” (a graphic novel about J. Robert Oppenheimer) was a clue in the early noughts…though they didn’t mention any of the creators. So congratulations to Tim — his adaptation is excellent!
I vaguely remember Jeopardy! having a “Comic Books” category in the 90s, with one clue featuring Spider-Man and Venom, too. (Of course, it was one of the teen type tournaments, so maybe it doesn’t really count.)
