The hype machine rolls on.
The Washington Post did an on-line chat with Paul Levitz today talking about the movie, the WATCHMEN movie and some comics talk.
Minneapolis, Minn.: From a villain perspective, who do you think would be interesting for Nolan to tackle in the movies?
Paul Levitz: I think Chris works best with villains with very human characteristics. I’m not sure they’ll do Catwoman, but I think it would be wonderful to see what he could do playing with her.

The Penguin would make a good villain for Nolan if portrayed as a mob boss, much like his current comic-book persona, rather than as just another costumed criminal. Batman in the middle of a mob war, with Oswald Cobblepot’s gang on one side and the other Gotham mob families on the other, each trying to take advantage of the chaos in the Joker’s wake… yeah, I’d see that. And like Bugsy Siegel, Cobblepot hates it when anyone calls him my his nickname, “the Penguin.”
I nominate Killer Croc — he can throw a rock at Batman! (it would be a big rock…)

Bring back Arnold and Mr. Freeze! Just kidding, that’s a terrible idea.
If I had my druthers, Phillip Seymour Hoffman would be the Ventriloquist.
Ventriloquist/Scarface, and, uh… Riddler?
It’s obscure, but I think that in Nolan’s hands someone like the Wrath would make a great villain. The Wrath is from Mike Barr’s “The Player on the Opposite Side” and is, in effect, a mirror image Batman, a man whose career criminal parents were gunned down by rookie patrolman Jim Gordon on the night Bruce Wayne’s parents were murdered. He trained himself to be a world-class hitman in the same way Bruce trained himself to be Batman. I think in the story he always operated out of Gotham, so you might want to switch that up so he comes back to Gotham when Gordon becomes Commissioner.
I’d love to see Batman track down a killer by solving riddles left behind at the sites of murders. “Riddle me this, Batman! Why does a tung have such a hard time getting it’s taxes done?”

at this point, i don’t see most of the villains working for film that are in the comic…especially how serious and dark the tone of the new film is.
the worst thing for him to do would be the penguin. seriously.
If i was him , i would move on to other characters after this movie. please give him superman.
I hope no one has told Nolan about Mr. Zsasz.
Next Batman villains—Zombies.
Yeah, no matter how many ways they try to do a “serious” Penguin, I just never buy it.
Ditto with The Riddler. Although my friend did come up with an excellent casting suggestion for that character: Steve Buscemi!
Mark Coale: Mr. Zazsz was in Batman Begins, though he’s easy to miss. One of the escapees from Arkham is a bald guy covered in tally marks; I think he’s at the lead of the pack menacing the Rachel Dawes character during the movie’s climax, and he appears a couple times elsewhere. He never speaks, if I remember correctly, so that makes him easy to miss.
