Not forcing the 2nd movie but actually finding a way tell that material compellingly is pretty important. I still they'd be better off splitting the actual Hobbit story in two and extending it with the battle of the White Council and the Necromancer at Dol Guldur...but we'll see. The fact that the director wants to make sure they do the story right, though, is heartening. That’s actually the most comforting thing he could have said, to me.
