“If you’re used to comics smacking you over the head with superheroes and fantasy, prepare to be seduced and charmed.”

Congratulations. Too bad she started with that line, a standard cliche that all comic books are about superheroes beating each other up. Then again, most NPR listeners probably don’t read comics, so I suppose they are “used” to that.

Oh, congrats to Laurel! I met her in the subway after MoCCA and we had a great chat about stuff; she sent me the link to her LATimes review of “Skyscrapers of the Midwest,” which was simply a beautiful piece of writing.
