Carrier, not battleship. The US Navy currently does not have any battleships commissioned.

It had to be done because the last non-nuclear carrier, the Kitty Hawk, was recently decommissioned. Until then, it was the only carrier that was homebased in Japan, though others made calls at times.

It's a U.S. Navy commissioned manga to prepare Japanese residents for the arrival of a American Battleship.

I do believe that this is the US Navy's comic book. The George Washington is a NUCLEAR powered carrier to shortly be based in Japan. The Japanese have never been happy with nuclear powered vessels for obvious reasons. The book is to calm their fears over a nuclear incident involving the ship that will take up residence there, I believe. Thanks for all that you do Heidi. JeffH
