Disney is bullish on animation as a full slate of animated films for the next few years has been announced, including Cars 2; Bolt, starring Miley Cyrus and John Travola; Toy Story 3, set for June 18, 2010; The Princess and the Frog from John Musker and Ron Clements; Rapunzel, directed by Glen Keane and Dean Wellins; Pixar’s Newt and The Bear and the Bow; and King of the Elves, based on a story by Philip K. Dick.

Also revealed: all films will henceforth be released in digital 3D.

Many more details in the link, but just to repeat:

DISNEY DOES PHILIP K. DICK.

And here all this time I thought Disney didn’t know Dick.

  2. Torsten Adair says:

Not only does Disney like Dick, so does most of Hollywood. Tom Cruise is a big Dick fan, having made Minority Report. The Governor of California as well.

I’ve tried Dick a few times, but it left a strange taste in my mouth. Maybe I should try it again with some stimulants?

    Oh Torsten. You went there.

  4. James Van Hise says:

I’ve read a lot of Phil Dick, most of it after I interviewed him at his home in 1981. He had such a unique take on his ideas that it was like reading science fiction for the first time because I couldn’t compare it to anyone else’s work. You might try some of his short stories like “We Can Remember If For You Wholesale” which is a much more gentle story than the bizarre film TOTAL RECALL that it was turned into.

“He had such a unique take on his ideas …”

Philip K. Dick had many unique ideas. Many involved constant surveilance by the FBI. I’m not sure if this was legit, or if he was just paranoid … but he seemed like a cool guy who wrote remarkable stuff.
