200803190405 Cera to play SCOTT PILGRIM?
Michael Cera is taking a break from the world of Judd Apatow to star in the SCOTT PILGRIM’S LITTLE LIFE movie, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Edgar Wright is set to direct the Michael Bacall screenplay.

Cera and Wright had mutual admiration for each other’s work, which manifested itself when Wright stepped in to act alongside Cera and Jonah Hill in a viral promo for “Superbad.” Wright acted as a snarky interviewer of an exasperated Cera and Hill.

Cera as Scott Pilgrim? That actually sounds kinda cool. He can definitely pull off that wide-eyed cluelessness that I love about Scott Pilgrim.

  2. Liz says:

Oh my gosh he would be the PERFECT Scott Pilgrim! I can totally see it.

  3. Rob S. says:

    Yay! Couldn’t be happier!

  4. joffe says:

woah…. well it could be good. Scott’s awkward, but he’s also a little more confident than the usual Cera characters. I’m not sure how much of that is typecasting and how much of that is Cera since I haven’t seen him in enough to really judge. As long as Scott doesn’t just end up being George Michael with a band I could see it working.

Michael: What do we always say is the most important thing?

    George Michael: Breakfast?

    Michael: No, Family.

George Michael: Oh….I thought you meant of the things that we eat…..

    Can he do kung fu?

    Kung fu ain’t easy.

    Can he DO kung fu?

  7. Sigh, live action. I was hoping for animated O’Malley characters.

    Animation would have been best.

But Cera? Really? Scott Pilgrim is WAY cooler than him! I already don’t want to see this movie.

If they have to go live action, then Michael Cera is the way to go. This news made me very happy! Great director and great actor. This could be a fun movie. It will never replace the comic but will be a great companion piece.

  13. joffe says:

you know, if this movie does well enough, maybe someone can swing an animated series…

  14. anthony says:

O’malley is a way better writer than any flim-student scribe fresh off his last sh*tty indie flick. Who is this Michael Bacall? Is his stuff any good? I don’t wanna give an unfounded opinion, but his IMDB isn’t encouraging.
