It’s always great to see Lou Fine’s work, but I was mostly struck by how much slang has changed in 60+ years… The line on the second page “there’s a guy who looks like a dick” sure does have a different meaning nowadays.
Lou Fine was an incredible artist, combining draftsmanship and dynamism at a level rarely — okay, never — seen in modern comics.
His work for Quality — The Ray, The Black Condor, and Doll Man (in fact, all of the characters DC plundered for Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters), plus dozens of covers — ranks with the greatest art in the history of the medium.
