Aaaand there’s why the Simpsons leaves me cold now; jokes are judged by the number of cultural references. I saw the clip of the comic shop scene, and it was pretty fun, I guess, but it still felt like subcultural pandering that just happened to be aimed at my little subculture.
I was thrilled to see Alan Moore, Art Spiegelman and Dan Clowes in an animated version of Meltdown, my favorite comics store here in LA. Too bad their excellent segment was only the first act of, what other way is there to put it? Worst. Episode. Ever.
