After many baseball induced delays, the long-awaited episode of the Simpsons starring comics luminaries is to air tonight, Flog reports:
Finally! This Sunday night (8PM/7C) is the long-awaited airing of The Simpsons episode featuring Daniel Clowes, Art Spiegelman, Alan Moore and Jack Black. Reportedly, the episode finds Jack Black’s character opening “Coolsville,” a hipster comic shop that threatens the Comic Book Guy and Android’s Dungeon.
We’ll be making a special TV-themed evening of it.

Dang it, i missed it. Football was on earlier, so i put in Simpson DVDs.
I’d forgotten this was coming! Tuned in last night, and laughed my head off. Then it occured to me: never mind about comics getting literary awards, or graphic novels reshaping Hollywood, or big features in the NYTimes — this episode of the Simpsons might be the real turning point that puts the graphic novel into the American household. You’re on the Simpsons, you’ve arrived…!
Great first half, good middle, sloppy end. Just like college.
The comic book shop stuff was hilarious and I’m sorry they dropped that plotline a third of the way in.

Between that and the Watchmen Babies gag, the whole comic shop bit was brilliant.
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder than I did at that “Watchmen Babies” gag….it was just so out of left field and unexpected on a network TV show. And I didn’t know whether to laugh or be horribly appalled by the “Maus is in the house!” gag. =^p

Well Spiegelman obviously found it funny enough to go along with, so I’d say you can laugh safely.
The comic store stuff was the funniest material, but I recognize my bias. I’m guessing the Watchmen Babies joke will fly over the heads of 95% of the viewing audience (until the movie comes out and this episode is in syndicated repeats).
How cool was it that this episode aired on Alan Moore’s birthday!?

Go along with it? He came up with it. I quote the show’s writer, Matt Selman…
“Art Spiegleman insisted that his character wear a Maus “mouse” mask when he turns into a superhero. This was not our idea, and if it had been, we would have been too scared to pitch it to Art.”
I’ve been reading about the issue with the simpsons and ‘bart’ promoting scientology. Was checking to see if anyone else had any comments on the ‘issue’. I don’t much like it myself, but also do not care to judge.
