Why does Newsarama go offline every night from about 2-3?

  5. I’ve noticed this, too.
    Strange… though I’m sure there’s a reason.
    What gets me is that they can just pull the plug without apology or announcement. I don’t see news media doing that in other industries.

    The same reason it does every night—so they can take over the world!

    I’ve wondered this too (though here on the west coast it’s around 11:00). My best guess is that they’re running some sort of nightly server maintenance — backups, maybe — and the system can’t handle both serving and maintenance at once. I haven’t figured out whether they take the forums offline deliberately, or whether it just gets overloaded.
