?.? . Calvin and Hobbes was printed for 10 years about 12 years ago, and has arguably been the best comic strip since Peanuts. He’s claimed he’s been painting, and I’m just curious what that stuff is.

Wow, only? Jerry Van Amerongen's work on The Neighborhood is at least as worthy of collection as Lynn Johnston's epic soap. And I'm sure there are other creators from the era that deserve collection as well.

Watterson was once an editorial cartoonist. I doubt that he would produce another strip. If Calvin & Hobbes remains his sole work, I would be content.
Gary Larson is another retired cartoonist who remains in print. He does draw occasionally, but does not need to. The only contemporary cartoonists deserving of a “complete” collection would be Lynn Johnston, Gary Trudeau, and Patrick McDonnell.
