Yeah I liked Star Wars, though I was never one to quote it or memorize the lines. But after the last few years I've soured on the material. The original-originals are great and so was the animated series, but the comics and the prequels just seem....tired.

Somewhere along the line it occured to me that Star Wars became this generations Star Trek and it kinda bums me out. Star Wars was fun, vibrant and full of life. Now it's as dull as Picard and Data.

Plus why do people dress up as SW characters at comicon's? The SW profile is so low at the cons, except for retailers, that it doesn't make much sense to me. Why not dress up like Mike Piazza in full uniform? It makes just about as much sense to me.

Oh well. Here's to the wonderful original trilogy!!

Thank You, Boltron. Idea One: create an MST3K/Rocky Horror script for each movie. Idea Two: film a series where SW fans get deprogrammed from the brainwashing.
p.s. The Wizard Of Oz is overrated, too. In the movie, it ends as an hallucination. In the books, her whole family moves to Oz.

Bravo, Robert!

"Star Wars" is ridiculously overrated. "Empire" is the only good film in the entire sequence, and I can prove it.

I never got it.

My father took me to see Jaws, Star Wars and Superman when I was a kid. I was scared by Jaws and wowed by Superman. Star Wars completely bored me.

It still does.

Today is also John Wayne's Centennial.
With his westerns and was movies, it could be argued that he is the godfather of Star Wars.
And while The Duke was Conservative, that pales to the Fascist symbolism and imagery in Star Wars.
That said, I will go see 4, 5, 6 whenever they are shown on the Big Screen.

Hard to believe, but I don't remember a time when I hadn't seen Star Wars. I had the toys growing up, and I think my parents must have taken me to see the 1978 re-release. On the plus side, to paraphrase Babylon 5, it has always been there, but on the minus side, I don't remember the first time I saw it. I don't remember that moment of discovery.

I didn't see it until July of '77. By then I'd read the Marvel comics adaptation and the novelization, but they never compared to actually seeing the movie.
