Sonderlich dämonisch kommt er allerdings nicht rüber. Die Hauptrolle gibt Nicolas Cage, der immer dann am besten ist, wenn sein Gesicht verschwindet und von einem halbwegs okay animierten brennenden Totenschädel ersetzt wird. Außerdem spielt noch das Dekolleté von Eva Mendes mit. Wer die Bösewichte spielt, die der Rider fertigmachen muss, ist egal, weil sie für den Rider praktisch gar kein Problem darstellen. Die putzt er mit links weg. Selten waren Konflikte im Actionkino konfliktärmer. Ein kleiner Trost sind die Auftritte von Sam Elliott (den man als lässigen Erzähler in Big Lebowski kennt) als alter Herr, der selber mal der Rider war, damals aber noch zu Pferde statt auf dem Feuerstuhl.
