It&#8217;s possible that some of the more experienced hires will ensure that this initiative succeeds, but based upon Diamond&#8217;s efforts in the booksellers market to date, I&#8217;m holding off on betting money on it for the time being. It&#8217;s not that I think they&#8217;re destined to fail or anything &#8212; and goodness knows, a bookstore distributor willing to represent small publishers is always a worthy thing &#8212; but there&#8217;s been precious little evidence to date that the mostly ragtag line-up represented by Diamond has really benefited from new opportunities in the market in the same way as publishers with sharper, more experienced representation.
