2006 Harvey Award Winners

0 Comments POSTED ON Sep 10 2006 AT 11:09 am BY Beat

The 2006 Harvey Awards were presented last night at the Baltimore Comic-con. The ceremony went off smoothly, although only a few of the winners were present, including Alex Robinson and Vertical’s Anne Ishii, who delivered a saucy joke about LOST GIRLS in her acceptance speech. 1. Dirk Deppey says:

My apologies to Comic Art editor Todd Hignite, for taking something that rightfully belongs to him.

  2. Steve Flack says:

    BEST ARTIST
    J.H. Williams III / PROMETHEA / ABC/WildStorm/DC Comics

Wasn’t Promethea finsihed before the last year? I mean, JH has done a bunch of nice work this year, and deserves the award.

    BEST NEW TALENT – TIE
    R. Kikuo Johnson / NIGHT FISHER / Fantagraphics Books
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa / MARVEL KNIGHTS FOUR / Marvel Comics

Hasn’t Aguirre-Sacasa been writing for Marvel for like 3 years now? Not exactly “new”.

    -Steve!

  3. Todd Alcott says:

What’s wrong with me? I’ve actually read at least half of these titles! I haven’t felt like this since Clinton was re-elected.

    Congratulations to all the winners!

  4. Brian Spence says:

    Nice one, Todd.

I’ve read most of these books too. Scary. I have a J.H. Williams original piece of art in my bedroom. It’s a two page spread that’s partly colored in with colored pencils. He’s the real deal, and deserves his shiny award.

  5. R. Maheras says:

Don’t beat yourself up, Dirk — you deserve your award.

  6. Andry says:

    Autor, Respect!

  7. Name Alexey says:

!!! It is class to itself

  8. XRumer569 says:

    Abnormal program termination.

  9. tip says:

My English not so good but thank for lovely site with information I looking for and need also.

[...] Am I being passive-aggressive? I don’t know. My first reaction upon hearing the news was to apologize to Hignite in the comment section of Heidi MacDonald’s blog, to be sure, but I must confess that my second reaction was to call my mother and share the good news — she loves stuff like this. And if you pressed me, I’d probably confess that I had a hand in assembling at least one issue of the Journal last year that probably matched Comic Art in quality, TCJ #269’s issue-length focus on girls’ manga. Maybe I’m just spending too much time thinking about all of this. Maybe I should just shut up. [...]
